This seems a good time to let you know what's going on with
me in relation to recordings and concerts. I've been very lucky - I've never been short of
work but of recent years I've been doing so much teaching and voice and singing training
that my own work as a singer has been somewhat swamped. Now I'm happy to say I'm taking
steps to get a better balance between teaching, singing and recording. Boat Band
Expect a few changes in the band, a bit more brass and
percussion than we've used recently. Personnel will continue variable...
Cushleen
Cushleen are an extremely accomplished trio specialising in
Irish traditional music, at which they display a flair and authority that obviously comes
from a real understanding of the music and song of Ireland.
Delaney's Donkey
Formed in 1995 by Paul Burton (guitar/vocals) and Heath
Lavery (fiddle), and joined by Al Pill (bass) and Simon Allen (drums) Delaneys
Donkey recently celebrated their 950th gig. They have played all over Britain and Ireland
in the last three years, both as a four piece band and as a duo. Last year they recorded a
live album which they promote themselves through advertising, mail order, sales at live
gigs and the Internet.
The House Band
The House Band is a three-member British band, playing music
derived from all the celtic lands, England and further afield.
Loop Guru
26th April 1999 sees the return of Loop Guru with "The
Fountains of Paradise" and with it Loop Guru return to the source of their original
inspiration; Imaginary soundtracks; Mystical train journeys; and New World sampledelia.
The Pogues
The Pogues generally defied description. Many critics and
fans tried to pin labels on them (one of the more entertaining labels, "a hybrid
between the Sex Pistols and the Chieftans."
Shake The Dice
Shake The Dice are a ceilidh (folk dance) band based in
Manchester, UK. Between the four of us we play bagpipes, bass guitar, bouzouki, fife,
flute, guitar, hurdy-gurdy, mandolin, melodeon, percussion, and whistles. We seldom ever
attempt to play more than one instrument each at any one time.
Transglobal Underground
Natacha Atlas provides eastern vocals, chants and wails to
the raps of the TGU Crew. Famous for their live perfomances - Balinese tribal masks and
Natasha's chiffon-draped belly dancing in a hypnotic, dazzling display, fusing together
the sound of global music with the dance scene of the 90's.
Windy Mills Ceilidh band
The WindyMills Ceilidh Band is one of Northumbria's
pre-eminent dance bands, with a large and lively repertoire of Northumbrian hornpipes,
Scottish jigs, and Irish reels.
